Veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs has died at the age of 84, marking the end of a remarkable career that helped define Nigerian cinema and theatre over several decades.
His family confirmed the news on Wednesday, September 16, sharing the announcement through a post by his wife, celebrated actress Joke Silva.
The statement described Jacobs as "a husband, father, grandfather and uncle," and the family called on bloggers and social media influencers to respect their privacy during the difficult period.
Silva shared an image of the actor alongside a heartfelt message that read:

She did not end there, as she added:
Born Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs in 1942, the actor built his craft in London before returning to Africa to leave an indelible mark on the Nigerian stage and screen.
He is survived by his wife, Joke Silva, their children, and grandchildren.
The announcement prompted an immediate wave of tributes from across the Nigerian entertainment industry.
