Kapsowar Girls’ High Flies Top Performers to Nairobi for Sightseeing and Malkia Strikers Match

Top-performing students at Moi Kapsowar Girls High School, nicknamed the Maroon Queens, boarded a flight from Eldoret to Nairobi on Friday, September 4, as a reward for their academic achievements.
The trip was reportedly funded by the school's Board Chairperson, Timothy Tobero Kilimo, who covered the cost of the students' flights as part of an ongoing effort to recognise and celebrate excellence within the institution.
The best-performing students and the top-performing class were among those selected for the experience.
While in the capital, the students are expected to visit a number of attractions and facilities, including Talanta City Stadium.

The centrepiece of the trip, however, is the live volleyball showdown at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, where Kenya's Malkia Strikers will face Egypt in the final of the 2026 CAVB Women's African Nations Volleyball Championship, scheduled to kick off at 6pm.
The school launched this unique reward programme back in 2023, an initiative driven by Senior Principal Joan Too and Kilimo as a way of pushing students to aim higher academically.
On July 24, 2023, five students made the inaugural flight from Moi International Airport in Eldoret to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and back on a Jambojet morning service.
Those chosen included the top three Form Four performers, the most improved student and the leading Form Three student based on internal examination results.
The programme continued into 2024, when the school again flew its top candidates to Nairobi in September, giving them the chance to explore the city and gain exposure well beyond the classroom environment. That year also saw the school reward 15 students who had scored As in their KCSE with cash prizes totalling KSh 500,000.
The 2026 trip builds on that tradition, blending the thrill of travel with the spectacle of elite sport to remind students that hard work carries tangible rewards.
