Despite leading one of the world's most valuable companies, Ternus's LinkedIn page still reflects his previous position in hardware engineering at Apple, with no posts or announcements acknowledging his elevation to CEO. The detail did not escape the internet's attention for long.
Ternus joined Apple in 2001 and spent more than two decades working his way through the company's engineering ranks before ascending to the top seat. Prior to Apple, he worked at Virtual Research and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.

As PCMag reported, the new Apple CEO had not bothered to update his LinkedIn at the time the story gained traction, a contrast that many found quietly entertaining given the platform's reputation as the home of enthusiastic career announcements.

Whether Ternus simply had bigger priorities on his first full day as CEO of a trillion-dollar company, or whether the omission was entirely deliberate, remains unclear.
