Watch: US strike hits wedding in Iran, leaving child among four dead

A US strike hit a home hosting a wedding ceremony in southern Iran, killing at least four people, including a child, and injuring around 50 others, Iranian officials said as hostilities between Washington and Tehran resumed.The strike targeted a wedding gathering in the coastal village of Kohstak, in Sirik County of Hormozgan province, according to Iranian state media and local officials. Images from the scene showed damage at the wedding venue following the attack.Ahmad Nafisi, Hormozgan province’s deputy governor, earlier told Iranian state television that a US strike on a home where a wedding ceremony was being held had killed two people and wounded others.The provincial Red Crescent later put the death toll at four, including a child, according to Tasnim.

Around 50 people were reported injured. Some of those wounded were treated and discharged, while others were transferred to Minab Hospital for specialised treatment.The strike came as the US military launched a fresh wave of attacks against targets in Iran on Tuesday, ending a month-long lull in military action.The US Central Command said its latest strikes targeted Iranian air defence sites, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communications facilities.

Washington said the attacks followed Iranian attempts to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and US personnel in the region.Iran responded with missile and drone attacks, with Iranian media reporting that ballistic missiles were launched towards Jordan, where US forces are based. Jordan said the missiles were intercepted, while the United Arab Emirates reported stopping an Iranian drone over its waters.US President Donald Trump warned Iran against retaliation, saying Tehran would face an even stronger response if it struck back.The renewed fighting has also raised fresh concerns over shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route.
