CM Revanth Reddy drops minister Konda Surekha from cabinet

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy decided to remove Konda Surekha from his cabinet. G Chinna Reddy's appointment as vice-chairman of Telangana Planning Board was also rescinded. This action follows recommendations from the TPCC disciplinary committee for controversial remarks. Gadwal Vijayalakshmi will now serve as Planning Board vice-chairperson. Nerella Sharada and G Sudha Rani also received new appointments.

HYDERABAD: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday decided to drop Endowments minister Konda Surekha from his cabinet and rescind G Chinna Reddy’s appointment as vice-chairman of Telangana Planning Board, amid a continuing disciplinary row within Telangana Congress.The recommendation to remove Surekha from Council of Ministers has been sent to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma for approval. The govt also decided to rescind Chinna Reddy’s appointment with immediate effect.Revanth’s decision came after the TPCC disciplinary committee recommended action against both leaders over recent controversial remarks.

The committee had recommended Surekha’s removal from the cabinet and Chinna Reddy’s removal from Planning Board post.The controversy involving Surekha erupted after her daughter Konda Sushmitha Patel made remarks against Revanth and his family at a public event in August. Surekha maintained that her daughter’s views were personal and said she should not be held responsible for them.The issue escalated within Congress, with several party leaders demanding disciplinary action against Surekha.

Revanth also raised the issue with AICC general secretary KC Venugopal during his visit to Delhi and sought stringent action against her.Surekha had refused to step down despite mounting pressure and challenged the party leadership to take action against her. She also met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi on Wednesday as the high command considered action against her.Chinna Reddy’s removal follows disciplinary action recommended against him over remarks against Wanaparthy MLA T Megha Reddy.
