Case filed against Mamata Banerjee over violation of Calcutta high court order
A case has been filed against Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Chhatra Parishad organisers. This action follows an alleged violation of a Calcutta High Court order. Supporters reportedly pushed barricades and jostled with police personnel. Traffic was disrupted on Cathedral Road during the event. The programme also continued beyond the court-permitted time.
KOLKATA: A case has been registered against former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and organisers of the West Bengal Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (WBTMCP) over an alleged violation of a Calcutta high court order during the organisation’s foundation day programme on Friday.According to the complaint, supporters allegedly pushed aside barricades and jostled with police personnel during the programme, news agency ANI reported.They also allegedly disrupted traffic on Cathedral Road and continued the event beyond the time permitted by the court.The case was registered at Hastings Police Station under Sections 61(2), 223, 125(a), 132 and 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to Kolkata Police.(
