6 injured after people jump from building in panic as Delhi factory catches fire

Panic spread among residents of the adjacent building, prompting the desperate jumps. All injured individuals were hospitalized and are reportedly out of danger. NEW DELHI: Six people, including women and children, were injured after they jumped from a building in panic when a fire broke out in an adjoining godown-cum-factory in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Sunday, police said.The fire broke out on the ground and first floors of the factory, where judo dresses and boxing gloves were manufactured.No one was inside the premises when the fire broke out, they said." However, panic spread among people in the building adjacent the factory, prompting six persons, including women and children, to jump from the building, resulting in injuries," a senior police officer told news agency PTI.All the injured were taken to hospitals and are out of danger, he said.The Delhi Fire Service received a call about the blaze at 11:05 am, following which 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.Firefighting operations were launched immediately and the blaze has now been completely extinguished by the fire tenders, police said.Further details on the circumstances leading to the fire and the extent of the damage were being ascertained.
