The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, collapsed while delivering a speech at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration on Thursday.
Sosu was speaking about his personal experiences, leadership and commitment to public service when he suddenly appeared to lose consciousness on stage, according to Citi Newsroom.
Moments before the incident, Sosu said, “I respectfully submit that if you want to be a good leader, let service be your hallmark,” Citi Newsroom reported.
He then paused and appeared to collapse.
People at the event quickly rushed to the stage to assist the lawmaker, while two people were seen helping him after he fell, according to a video of the incident published by CitiTV and carried by ModernGhana.

Sosu briefly appeared to regain consciousness and seemed ready to continue his speech, but he soon began to slump again, Citi Newsroom reported.
He was subsequently assisted off the stage and taken away for medical attention.
The video showed people gathering around the lawmaker as the podium was left unattended following the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the collapse and Sosu’s current condition were not immediately clear as of Thursday.
Sosu is the MP for Madina in Ghana’s Parliament.
