Sita Air aircraft tyre comes off during landing at Dolpa airport
Thirteen passengers, including seven foreign nationals, were unharmed after the aircraft’s rear tyre came off on landing, blocking the runway and disrupting flights.
A Sita Air aircraft carrying 13 passengers from Nepalgunj had its rear tyre come off while landing at Juphal Airport in Dolpa district on Thursday morning, disrupting flights at the remote airport. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The aircraft, with the call sign 9N-AJH, was landing at around 8:25 am when the tyre came off, according to the airport security post. Seven of the 13 passengers on board were foreign nationals.
The aircraft suffered no other reported damage, and all passengers were safe, officials said.
The aircraft remained on the runway after the incident, preventing other aircraft from landing at Juphal.
A Nepali Army aircraft that was approaching the airport was also forced to turn back, officials said.
Authorities are preparing to bring in technicians by helicopter to repair the aircraft, according to the security post.
