‘My gesture during Assembly speech inadvertent’: Tamil Nadu CM Vijay
The Chief Minister’s clarification came after CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam took strong objection to Mr. Vijay “body-shaming” former Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin over the broken jaw Mr. Stalin suffered during his detention under MISA when the Emergency was imposed in India.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, on Tuesday (September 8, 2026), said his body language (gesture) during his reply on the debate for demand for grants for the Home Department in the Assembly on Monday (September 7) was an inadvertent expression and was not intended to convey any ulterior motive in any manner.
In a post on X, Mr. Vijay requested that his body language not be construed as an act intended to hurt anyone personally.
