Kamala Harris’ home targeted by trespasser

A person was stopped by law enforcement on the property of former Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff following reports that there was a trespasser. "Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff's property before the individual reached the home,” a spokesperson for Harris, Eduardo Negrón, told The Hill. Negrón confirmed that Harris and Emhoff were not present at the time of the incident.

“They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly,” he said. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to The Hill that at approximately 10:30 P.M., deputies "responded to a suspicious person call for service at the location." "When deputies arrived they made contact with the private security detail on the property. The individual who was outside of the property upon our arrival was warned and advised by deputies to leave the premises and left voluntarily without incident," the department continued.

A trespassing report was taken at the time of the incident. The department said that Sheriff’s Malibu Lost Hills Deputies will increase patrols in the area as a precaution. Harris retained security personnel after President Trump revoked the Secret Service protection. She received six months of Secret Service protection after the Biden administration ended, but that was supposed to be extended for another year through a directive former President Biden signed before leaving office.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) offered to provide protection to Harris but declined to share details about the arrangement at the time. The Los Angeles Police Department reportedly ended its protection of the former vice president last year following criticism that Harris could “easily afford to pay for her own security.” Harris’ office did not respond to The Hill’s request for further details on the incident.
