Russian strikes kill 16 in Kyiv and surrounding region
At least 16 people have been killed and 40 injured in Russian ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv and its surrounding region, Ukrainian authorities have said.

Both Russia and Ukraine have ramped up attacks in recent months, with Moscow increasing its long-range strikes on towns and cities across Ukraine.
A massive overnight missile attack on Kyiv struck residential areas and warehouses, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram.
The attack damaged residential buildings, a medical facility and an educational institution and left five people dead and 23 wounded, city military authorities said.
An attack in Brovary district of the broader Kyiv region killed one man and wounded another, Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said.
"One industrial facility has been damaged. All relevant services are on site, working to extinguish the fire," he added.
Ukraine's Air Force had warned of Russian "Kalibr" missiles in the vicinity of the village of Kagarlyk within the Kyiv region, heading towards the capital.
While Kyiv has faced near-nightly attacks, Ukraine has also escalated its retaliatory strikes on Russia in recent months, partly to pressure Moscow to the negotiating table after nearly four and a half years of war.
