Makarios Drousiotis has responded to “Sandy’s” written statement, published today by Cyprus Times, accepting her challenge for his devices to be examined. In a social media post, Drousiotis questioned why her phone was reportedly lost while her computer remained available, which she herself had said, according to Drousiotis, would “make hearts cry” if ever examined.
Drousiotis faces court charges of publishing false news, circulating a forged document and harassment in connection with the “Sandy” affair.
Drousiotis’s post, reproduced in full:
“The evidence has already started to speak!! It’s strange that her phone was ‘lost’, yet the computer still exists. The one which, according to her, ‘if it’s ever examined, hearts will cry’.
Mr Kalatzis published statements he attributes to Sandy, whom he himself has repeatedly described as a mythomaniac. To the extent that these statements genuinely come from her and not from a third party on her behalf, I will respond to her challenge for an examination of my devices.
There is nothing on my devices regarding the trail of the messages, nor is it a secret how they reached me. I was given them on a USB stick and in printouts. More important than the trail is the authenticity, the original source and the verification of the content of the messages.
The closing message attributed to Sandy is ‘let the evidence speak’. I fully agree with her. That is also in her hands. It’s strange that her phone was ‘lost’, yet the computer still exists. The one which, according to her, ‘if it’s ever examined, hearts will cry’.
For my part, I am working towards that end. Examinations of devices and other digital material are under way, thanks to the financial support of citizens, whom I thank again. The evidence has already started to speak, and it demolishes both the police’s version and her own narrative that she fabricated the messages herself and that their content was a product of her imagination.
I cannot reveal more, since the Police and the Law Office, instead of investigating the case as they should have, chose to prosecute me instead.”
