Eggs, tomatoes thrown at ex-Union Minister's convoy in Punjab; he alleges AAP plot

BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu on Friday claimed that eggs and tomatoes were thrown at his convoy and vehicles were attacked while he was on his way to Pathankot to attend a BJP yatra against drugs.Bittu blamed the ruling AAP for the attack and alleged that those surrounding his convoy were heard shouting, "Surround them, beat them, kill them". He also claimed that some of the attackers were carrying weapons."

Today, we were supposed to take out a yatra against drugs because this Aam Aadmi Party government and drug addicts are all colluding, and this is what they have been doing for the last four and a half years," Bittu alleged, narrating the incident.He claimed that around 500 people were present at the spot when his convoy passed through the area." There were around 500 people there. I passed through them in my vehicle.

I have Z-plus security, with around 100 security personnel accompanying me. The local DSP and an SP were also there with the police for their protection," he said. Bittu said he did not know who the people involved were but claimed that their phones were still active." I do not know who these people are, but their phones are active at the moment. They are continuously saying, 'surround them, beat them, kill them,'" he said.He further alleged that vehicles in his convoy were attacked and their windows smashed."
