Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: The markets are looking to close the week on high, as the Nifty rises over 50 points, moving towards 24,200. The Nifty Bank is largely flat with a negative bias. The index has fallen below the 57,500 mark. TCS, Tech Mahindra and Infosys are the top gainers.
Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: The bulls return to the bourse for the last day of this week's trade on the back of another day of slump, as the Nifty index saw the important 24,100 being breached. For the second straight trading session, this time on an expiry, the ‘cas’pocalypse of the closing auction session (CAS) saw the Nifty crumble more than what it had been for most of the day that was volatile.The market is now staring down at a third straight week in red.The 50-stock index lost nearly 40 points during the final auction.
Sectoral performance remained mixed. Pharma, Healthcare and Consumer Durables outperformed, while PSU Banks, Media and Metals came under selling pressure.Eyes will also be on the broader market as it also weakened as investors booked profits. The Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices fell 0.10% each.As we move towards the end of trading in the month of August, one of the biggest focal points will be the Jackson Hole symposium that will be held between August 27–29, 2026.
Meanwhile, the US markets had a much better day yesterday, as the indices improved their standing for the week, with the Nasdaq index surging over 1.50%.
