Sydney woman who dismembered husband could be released in one year
Nirmeen Noufl has been sentenced after pleading guilty to manslaughter on the basis her husband was abusive and had attacked her.
A woman who killed and dismembered her abusive husband, dumping pieces of his body in dozens of bins around Sydney, could walk out of prison in just one year.
Nirmeen Noufl was on Friday sentenced for manslaughter by Justice Peter Hamill for killing her husband, Mamdouh, in May 2024 at their Greenacre home.
Noufl pleaded guilty after prosecutors agreed to a plea deal which saw them drop the charge of murder on the basis Mamdouh had been abusive towards his wife and was physically attacking her when she stabbed him with a sharp tool.
She cut up his body with a circular saw in the home and dropped the pieces in garbage bins around Bexley and Chullora. His remains have never found.
Hamill sentenced Noufl to six years and nine months in prison with a non-parole period of three years.
The sentence was backdated to Noufl’s arrest in October 2024, meaning she will be eligible for parole in October 2027.
Mamdouh’s nephew, outside court, flew into a rage saying: “F--- Australia, f--- the law, she should be doing 25-to-life.”
