2 British military pilots injured after training jet crashes in Wales
Video shared on social media appears to show pilots ejecting moments before Hawk T2 hits ground
Two Royal Air Force pilots suffered what are believed to be minor injuries after ejecting from a training aircraft that crashed in north Wales on Wednesday.
The Hawk T2 aircraft was flying from RAF Valley on the island of Anglesey when it crashed near Pencarnisiog.
North Wales Police said: “Two pilots are being treated for what are thought to be minor injuries and at this stage there are no reports of any wider damage or injuries.”
A video shared on social media appears to show the two pilots ejecting from the aircraft shortly before it hit the ground.
Footage shows a plume of smoke and flames rising from the crash site, with the aircraft apparently narrowly missing residential properties.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was under control, while ambulance and air ambulance crews also attended the scene.
The Hawk T2 is a training jet used by the RAF, while RAF Valley is a military airbase on Anglesey used for pilot training.
The circumstances surrounding the crash have not been disclosed.
